چکیده

bacteriophage antibiotics. Streptonu,ces sp. RK-1441 was found to produce antibacteriophage antibiotics, RK-1441A and B, which are pyrrole[1,4]benzodiazepine group antib;otics related to neothramycin. Both RK-1441A and B had antibacteriophagc actiyity, The former she"'ed antimicrobial activity on a hypersensitive strain of E. coti t'or antitumor antibiotics, but the later d;d not show the activity. Restriction cnzyme assay suggested that RK-1441A formed add"cts with guanine residues in DNA strai]ds, RK-1441B was not actiye in vitro, but it might be conyerted to the active form in host organisms.

Novel antibacterial antibiotics, kalimantacins A, B and C, have been isolated from the fermentation broth of Alcaligenes sp. YL-02632S. In this paper, the taxonomy of the producing strain, fermentation, isolation and biological activities of kalimantacins are reported. Kalimantacins inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and S. epidermidis including multiple-drug resistant strains.
